 Our Programs:

Saints Mary & Mathias Catholic School provides art, music, physical education and computer instruction to students in grades K-5.

Faith Formation:
The primary goal of Saints Mary & Mathias Catholic School is to develop, to the highest degree possible, the spiritual potential of each child.  Parents are encouraged and expected to take an active role to help us reach this goal.  Parents are invited to participate with their children in all-school and grade level Masses, any of the prayer services, and other religious activities.  Prayer is an integral part of our faith and is included in each class.  Students experience a variety of ways to pray including both formal, memorized prayers and informal, spontaneous prayer.

Sacramental Preparation:
Catholic students in second grade at Saints Mary & Mathias Catholic School receive the sacraments of the Eucharist and Penance.  Penance will be received during the Lenten season and Eucharist during the Easter Season.  Parents are expected to attend and participate in special evening sessions so they can be more fully involved in preparation of their child for the reception of the sacraments.

Accelerated Reader:
The Accelerated Reader (AR) Program makes it easy for every student to dramatically increase literature-based reading skills.   Saints Mary & Mathias Catholic School begins the AR Program in kindergarten so children can learn reading comprehension simultaneously with the mechanics of reading.

This program allows each child to select books from an extensive list, read (or be read to) the books and take computerized tests.  Points are rewarded based upon the difficulty level of the book and the performance on the test.  Both the student and teacher get immediate, individualized constructive feedback to direct ongoing reading practice. Each child sets goals and earns awards when those are successfully achieved.

Success Lab:
At Saints Mary & Mathias Catholic School all students in kindergarten through fifth grade spend 20 to 30 minutes each day in the Success Lab.  While in the lab, students work on reading and math skills using the computer. Each student works at his or her own pace.

Each student is enrolled in the SuccessMaker Foundations courses, Math Concepts and Skills and the appropriate level reading program. Kindergarten students start in Discover English, where they discover letters and sounds make words. After students master Discover English, they are enrolled in Reading Readiness. From there, they are enrolled in the Initial Reading program. Finally, they work their way through Readers' Workshop.

Technology Classes:

All Students in K-5 have a 35 minute technology class once a week.  The students learn to use Word, PowerPoint, Paint programs, Kidspiration, Internet research and many more grade appropriate skills.

Music Lab:

We have a Piano Lab where students in 3rd - 5th grade learn to read and play music on keyboards.

Before and After School Program:

Before school care is provided in the cafeteria opening at 7:00am.  The daily fee is $3.00.

After school care is provided in the cafeteria from 3:30-5:30pm at a fee of $6.75/day.    The program provides professional care, supervision, recreation and nutrition for students staying after their regular school day.  It serves families who desire both parochial school education and supplementary day care in a Christian environment for children enrolled in the school.
